NOTE: I will fill in the earlier bits, when I can be bothered to find them all. Okay? Lovely.
Being in this much pain, Tonks had lost all concept of time. She could have been sat here for 5 minutes or 5 hours. Whether time was just passing slower now, or whether she had sat here unnoticed for some time, she couldn’t quite tell. One thing she did know was that it was useless to just sit here and wait for an icy death to consume her; so, instead, she decided to be brave and attempt to get up. Slowly, she tried to push with her arms and use her good foot to get up but as she did so, her ankle rubbed across the frozen ground causing a fresh pain to shoot up her leg. As a result of this, she slumped back to the ground letting out an, ‘Ow!’ as she fell. She was definitely not trying that again!
Still alone, in an attempt to distract herself, she decided to weigh her options up out loud. “Perhaps it won’t be so bad, freezing to death.” Her mother had always said she had the tendencies to be dramatic when she wanted. “Maybe in hundreds of year’s time they will find and unfreeze me, and I will live with the futures… if there is a future…” She soon shook that idea off. Of course there would be a future. She couldn’t kid herself that it would be an easy future to get to, but she had to believe that good would win.
Like most of the students, she was more than aware of what was happening in the wizarding world. Every week, the Prophet was filled with all sorts of terrifying stories about disappearances, deaths and the likes; and not just that, the Muggle world was being affected too. She was aware of it, yes, but she would try not to think about it; which ultimately was hard, because, though not many people tended to talk about it, you could tell they were worried.
Just then, she felt another jolt of pain, as if her ankle was telling her not to think about such disturbing things; and all too willingly, she obeyed. Instead, she went back to weighing up what options she had; this time focussing on the pro’s and cons of someone finding her. “Pros; I can get my ankle fixed, I can get somewhere warmer, I won’t freeze to death, warm clothes… soup!” The pro’s were nice. “And cons; There’ll be another ‘Tonks fell over’ story to add to the list, they’ll try to make me see Nurse Tyler,” Tonks shuddered at that one, “and I won’t get to be unfrozen in the year 2120…”
They seemed pretty much even, though if anything, the cons outweighed the pros, because she would sooner sit here than have to visit their Nurse. Back in her 5th year, Tonks had to visit Nurse Tyler for a sprained wrist and what did the old witch do? Try and poison her, that’s what! She tried to cover it up by claiming it to be an ‘allergic reaction’ but Tonks wasn’t convinced, and since then had swore never to go back. Plus, Tonks was well aware that on more than one occasion, Nurse Tyler had touched Professor Slughorn’s perfect and magical, should-never-be-touched-by-dirty-and-unworthy-hands, hair; which of course was a perfectly sound reason to hate someone.
Suddenly, as if someone had made some kind of public announcement, several students started to flock around her like sheep. Looking up at all the faces, some wore amused expressions, whilst others showed that of concern.
She soon found herself in the firing line of many questions, all coming at once, “What happened?” “Are you hurt?” “Did you fall again?” “Why don’t you try and get up?”
Normally, Tonks would just humour them, but in the state she was in, several impolite and sarcastic remarks came to mind, in response to some of the, quite frankly, stupid questions.
Fortunately, however, a familiar voice broke through the fretting meaning Tonks didn’t have the chance to answer them. She looked up and was relieved to see the face of one Amber Fawcett, though it was short lived when her friend ordered a young boy to retrieve a potion from Nurse Tyler. “Don’t tell her it’s for me!” she called after him, though undoubtedly too late. She instead turned to Amber; “You know, I don’t think I need any potion it’s really not that BAAAD!” It was then, probably with the worst timing ever, that Amber had decided to touch her ankle, and ultimately, deem her protests invalid. Sulking slightly, she had a strong feeling that Amber would make her take the potion no matter what she said, so went on, like requested, and explained what had happened.
AND THEN AMBER SAID:
The cold hadn't really gotten to Amber until she was sitting in one place...in the snow. It was freezing and she could just think how much the cold must be affecting Tonks. That made a laugh pass her lips as she knew how insane Tonks could be when it came to something like this. Looking at the people around them as she listened to Tonks story and looked over at Alice during her over-exaggerated story of after she had fallen. "Tonks, I can safely tell you that you would not have died. You happen to be in a school and none of us would freeze you....or let you be frozen." Narrowing her eyes slightly she flicked them back and forth as if she was trying to decide if she said that right or not.
Looking at her leg agains he shook her head slightly. The blood covering her ankle made it harder to see the full extent of the injury but based on Tonks story she figured the bone was probably broken. The way her leg hit the wall could also definitely prove to be dislocated. Frowning her hand moved a little softer, if that was possible, over her leg as she tried to feel for any proof of what she was dealing with. Biting her bottom lip she shook her head and finally pulled out her wand and vanished the blood from the wound.
It was started to be replaced quickly but Amber was able to get a closer look at the break and she winced slightly. "Alright, you can either trust me with you're, obviously broken, leg or we can go to Nurse Tyler. Either way you're taking that potion." Giving her a serious look she moved to look at her leg again as the people circling them started to thin as they grew distracted with another snowball fight and all the other games that snow brought. Vanishing the blood again before it began to get frozen.
They'd have to move her inside soon. Of course that could be done with magic and she wouldn't even need to put weight on the ankle. Biting her bottom lip she turned to see how far they were from the entrance and decided it would be better to save her that pain, and her ankle that stress. If only that kid would get back here. Did he not understand her saying to hurry? Nurse Tyler knew she wouldn't send someone else for potion unless it was neccesary and she ahd expected to have had the potion a few minutes ago.
After clearing the blood again Amber was certain the bone was broken and the worst part was going to be having to set the leg back. Otherwise when the bone was set to heal it would heal crooked and end up hurting later on. Finally hearing footsteps behind her she turned and took the potion from the younger kid. Pulling off the stopper she handed it to Tonks and gave her a look. "Drink it. I promise you Nurse Tyler would not try and kill you." Shaking it slightly she held it to the girls mouth as she was scared Tonks would 'accidently' drop it if she handed it to her. Accidently her ass.
Until she drank the potion Amber was not comfortable moving her inside. Deciding to persuade her friend, whos she knew had a childish personality at the best of times. "Once you drink it you can get away from the snow and inside the nice warm castle." Her voice held a sing-song edge to it and she had to hold herself from laughing. Even at her age the childish personality came out and that's where her frienships came in. No one could stay serious around Tonks or Alice, even when Tonks was hurt....again.
Sometimes Amber wondered why she wanted to be a Healer so badly but when she actually had to help someone, even someone who broke her ankle for being clumsy, the thought never entered her mind. Amber somewhat noticed Alice has wondered closer only because her focus was on Tonks. Someone could have snuck up behind her and she wouldn't have noticed at that point in time. Pulling out her wand again she flicked it at Tonks foot to place a splint around it, she'd set it when they got inside but hovering the girl a few feet in the air would not help a broken ankle. Looking at Alice she smiled slightly despite herself "I'm gonna end up healing this bone in an abandoned classroom won't I?" The chances were very possible as there was no way she was getting Tonks into the hospital wing.
